LYRICS

Here are the complete lyrics to our debut ep!

Big Stick

tornadoes spin my mind away
with comments you play to say
you say "shes nothing,
nothing to me"

make an island of yourself
guaranteed loss of health

make believe he can see
smaller parts, makers mark
hes settled down
with his big stick

hurricanes mind their storm
weather as mothers form
turned around, progress is a boat
no rutter, it only floats

make an island of yourself
guaranteed loss of health

make believe he can see
smaller parts, makers mark
hes settled down
with his big stick

make believe he can see
smaller parts, makers mark
hes settled down
with his big stick

DEFINITION

innate understandings
that our language is too weak
gives our souls the example
that our minds are made too weak

our minds are made to weak
oh our minds are made to weak

we are composed of the same things we see

imagine a measure of matter
dont it measure divinity
its inherent for us humans
for we too are all that we see

mans existence is a weekend retreat
oh existence is a weekend retreat

we are composed of the same things we see

compose anything of matter
dont it sing divinity
its inherent for us humans
for we too are all that we see

mans existence is a weekend retreat
oh existence is a weekend retreat

we are composed of the same things we see

ADDICT

freedom defined
a brain declined
the power of wanting
is how courage is defined

find it deep inside
to quit the habit
live till you die
live till you die

live till you die

the body decays
as we wear it away
the power of wanting
is how courage is defined

find it deep inside
to quit the habit
live till you die
live till you die

live till you die

find it deep inside
to quit the habit
live till you die
live till you die

Patient(ce)

theres something worthless in being funny
he said to the girl he loved
she only laughed as he graphed
the pros and cons of getting snuffed
pros and cons

oh guide them through

oh guide them through
they must stay humble
oh guide them
oh guide them through

there something funny in being worthless
she said to her blinded sheep
as he swayed with her wand
said he cant get no relief
said he cant get no ra

oh guide them through
they must stay humble
they must have glue
oh guide them them
cuz we could all use the help

come through
be patient
not the patient

oh guide them through
they must stay humble
they must have glue

COME ALONG

dont weep, just step inside
theres a time, none in mind
faded colors of times old
we cant forget soul was sold
cant forget soul was sold

feel lost in a quite dense mess
set along, stubborn at best
lost values of times old
cant forget soul was sold
cant forget soul was sold

always count on time
to keep on waiting
waiting for us
to come along

TUBES> PEDALS

"Vacuum tubes (valves) were by far the dominant active electronic components in most instrument amplifier applications until the 1970s, when semiconductors (transistors) started taking over for performance and economic reasons, including heat and weight reduction, and improved reliability. High-end tube instrument amplifiers have survived as one of few exceptions, because of the sound quality."

Wait, so.... what?

Tubes are more expensive than transistors, they fade over time, are sensitive to oils, movement and most everything else... so why do players choose tubes over transistors? The sound! the warmth, which is dictated by the power regulation, is unmatched by the associating transistors, but is inconsistent. therefore, if one is looking for reference speakers, they wont desire tubes, due to the constantly changing sound timbre. A guitar player on the other hand, will LOVE tubes, for the sound quality, and continue replacing tubes, in order to continue pursuing the highest fidelity.

Last Good Tooth

Check out our friends, Last Good Tooth, as their debut ep gets reviewed by the visible voice!

"You can't really deny that Providence has become a hotbed for indie folk in recent years. The current roster of top-tier Americana acts that call RI home includes Deer Tick, The Low Anthem, Brown Bird and Joe Fletcher -- now add Last Good Tooth to the list. The young band released the excellent The Meeting Was a Success EP earlier this year. The songs have a gritty, earthy atmosphere with stream-of-consciousness lyrics provided by Penn Sultan. Instrumentation is subdued and simple - plucked acoustic guitar and light snare, complimented by Appalachian fiddle and slide guitar. The music generally manages an upbeat feel - "Take Em" sounds deceivingly carefree for a downer of a song. The rest varies between loose urban-folk jams ("2001 Massacre") and woozy rock n' soul ("Skydiving Accident").

PHI, Fibonacci and YOU!

To begin understanding the nature of ourselves, one must begin with the innate nature of what us, is.  Therefore to ask "what is, that connects humans to all other living things"  both is bewildering, yet if simply defined, would provide light to other questions about the nature of our existence.   Propose the answer to be in our biology.
Leonardo Da Vinci's "Virtruvian  Man" illustrates the mathematical answer.  If one examines the ratio of length between the end of the index finger and first joint, to the same point to the second joint, the ratio is equal to that of the first two joints to the whole finger.  This pattern continues from finger to hand, hand to forearm, hand and forearm to whole arm and so on throughout the body.  The ratio is golden.  Simplified mathematically, A + B is to A as A is to B.  This ratio builds all living things on earth and is seen throughout in Fibonacci Spirals,
]

... and fractal broccolli

But the real question is, how does this have to do with music? Listen to your favorite song, see if the best part is about 61 percent through, or a little after...   In common song form the bridge is the at the golden mean of the song.

How Did WOE Happen?

In the fall of 2008, stocks were falling, homes were lost.   In the wake of such financial disaster, Wool Over Eyes was formed.  We are not hedge fund suits, or realty agents, we are a mere conglomerate, a helping hand, a net to catch.  With your trust, we can provide clients with the assurance that ones investments will both have potential for consistent return, and comfort in state of mind.

My Bass Head, The Ampeg SVT 450H

This Bass Head happens to be the second bass head I have ever purchased. I recall getting it new for $900.00. It adds a great punch to my bass tone and it has never failed me once. The SVT 450H is one of the best solid state bass heads that is on the market. It has a 9 band graphic EQ which allows you to alter your levels enabling you to blend well with your band. Currently, I play my Warwick Corvette $$ Double Buck Neck through this head but soon I'll be playing my Carl Thompson bass out of it and see how that sounds.

Laney Mania

as a guitar player, my Laney G50 tube head is basically my leg. To find one that supports your sound, helps you run (things) and essentially functions as a WW2 sound gun, is of paramount importance for a guitar player. Especially one who distorts their signal. My weapon of choice is the Laney G100. It is a beast. One can find it at the LANEY WEBSITE.
. Laney + Wool Over Eyes = happy eardrums!

Addict

These are the lyrics to the Wool Over Eyes song, Addict, guess what its about!

Fender Bullet

The Fender Bullet is the main guitar of Wool Over Eyes, and will continue to be such, do to the unique nature of this instrument. The Bullet was originally marketed in 1981 as a student guitar, or a pre-stratocaster. Essentially, what this entails was a guitar for $199 to buy your damn nephew for christmas. Moving on, Fender made multiple different versions of this guitar, all of which are nothing like the Bullet I own today. The most similar is the H-2 which had a plastic guard, traditional hardtail bridge, and two humbuckers each with their own coil tapping button. The humbucking pickups were really two single coil pickups with alnico rod magnets side-by-side. alright, enough of the electical mumbojumbo... Coil taps make your humbuckers into single coils, allowing for MANY tonal opportunities.

1981 Fender Bullet

My Fender Bullet has a major difference to the stock models. I bought mine at the West 4th Guitar Shop in 2002, where the previous owner of my guitar hand wired his own humbucking pickups, and installed them in the guitar, providing my guitar to be truly unique.

The Carl Thompson Bass

Within these next couple of months, I'm going to be a proud owner of a 5-string Carl Thompson Bass. What makes a Carl Thompson bass different than any other bass is it's design, beauty, and sound. Carl Thompson Basses are all customized and created by a man named Carl Thompson. Carl is a musician, a teacher, and a inventor who resides in Brooklyn, New York. In 1974, Carl was steadily creating about ten to twelve electric basses every year and is the first person to have created a 6-string electric bass. Carl has built basses for a number of music legends such as Les Claypool and Stanley Clarke. Last time I saw him, he was finishing up two of Lou Reed's guitars and told me my 5-string was on its way! Just to show you how awesome these instruments are, below are some of Carl's most amazing creations.
This is the Les Claypool 6-string fretless Rainbow Bass.

This is my friend Miles with a brand new Carl Thompson 6-string bass.
